JACKSON, Miss. – Waggoner Engineering, Inc., a full-service economic development, planning, program management, and engineering firm, is continuing to expand its utility discipline with the addition of Dan Hilyer, PE, as Utility Management & Operations Discipline Manager.

Hilyer has 30 years of experience managing and operating public water systems, including water resource management, treatment, distribution, maintenance, engineering, strategic planning, finance, human resources, and customer service.

Hilyer joined Waggoner after serving as the general manager for Opelika Utilities in Alabama. He was responsible for managing and operating water utilities, providing service to a population of over 30,000 people directly and another 70,000 indirectly through wholesale accounts.

An active member of the American Water Works Association, he serves on the board of directors for the Alabama Water & Wastewater Institute and as the commissioner of the Alabama Water Resource Commission, among others.

A Licensed Professional Engineer in Alabama, Hilyer holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Auburn University.
