HERNANDO, Miss. – Waggoner Engineering, a professional civil engineering and consulting firm with a passion for helping communities realize their full potential, is pleased to announce that Mitchell Ward, PE has been promoted to Senior Project Engineer in the firm’s Mid-South office.
In his new role, Ward will lead a construction management team in providing quality oversight, ensuring projects are completed according to contract specifications within budgetary and time constraints. He will also work closely with transportation design teams, providing planning and technical assistance to meet client needs.
He has over eight years of experience in civil engineering and construction throughout North Mississippi. At Waggoner, Ward has provided extensive engineering design and construction oversight for the DeSoto County Board of Supervisors across numerous transportation projects, including Swinnea Road, Nail Road Extension, Getwell Road, Wilson Mill Road and Commerce Road Extension.
Before joining Waggoner in 2023, Ward worked for the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) and handled the day-to-day operations of the Senatobia office while serving as the project engineer for several projects. He also served as a project manager, collaborating with contractors and MDOT personnel daily, ensuring job competency and efficiency, performing inspections, and budgeting.

Ward is a licensed Professional Engineer in Mississippi and earned a bachelor’s degree in civil and environmental engineering from Mississippi State University.
