GULFPORT, Miss. – Waggoner Engineering, a professional civil engineering and consulting firm with a passion for helping communities realize their full potential, has promoted Richard Johnson, PE to Stormwater Technical Manager.
In this role, Johnson will provide technical oversight for the design and implementation of stormwater infrastructure solutions. He will also provide guidance and mentorship to engineering and technical staff.
He has over 20 years of experience as a licensed contractor, site/civil engineer and water resources engineer. He has worked on various stormwater management, erosion control and environmental mitigation projects for municipal, industrial and federal clients.
He joined Waggoner in late 2020 and has provided engineering design services for watershed-based stormwater management programs in several Mississippi counties, including Jackson, Rankin and Madison. These impactful projects commonly involve repairing and stabilizing eroded stream banks to increase their hydraulic capacity and reduce downstream flooding. Waggoner’s strategic approach to stormwater management both protects natural resources and enhances community resiliency.
“Having Richard in this role is a definite ‘win’ for Waggoner,” said Bill McDonald, PhD, PE, Discipline Manager. “We are always happy when our existing staff can advance into new positions of responsibility. His expertise and leadership will enable the stormwater team to continue to deliver excellent services to Waggoner clients.”
Johnson is a licensed Professional Engineer in Mississippi and earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Southern Florida.
