BATON ROUGE, La. – Miles B. Williams, PE, President and Louisiana Manager of Sigma Consulting Group, a Waggoner Company, received the Waldemar S. Nelson President’s Award from the Louisiana Engineering Society (LES).
The award was named in honor of Waldemar S. Nelson, PE, a distinguished member of the Society from 1936 until his death in 2005. It is given annually to a member for distinguished service to the Society, unselfishly and in keeping with the highest professional standards.

“This is a tremendous honor, and I’m grateful to join past recipients I have long admired and respected,” Williams said.
Williams has been active in the LES, currently serving as the Legislative Committee Chair. He has also served on the Baton Rouge Chapter’s Board of Directors. Williams is a past member of the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board, culminating his 6-year term as Chair.
Williams also promotes the education of young engineers by serving as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Louisiana State University. He has taught twenty-eight semesters of “Professional Issues and Concept Design in Civil Engineering,” a senior-level course that introduces engineering students to real-world, practical experiences.
