JACKSON, Miss. – Matthew Butler, President and Chief Executive Officer at Waggoner Engineering, has received the McNeese State University Black Alumni Chapter’s Trailblazer Award.
The honor recognizes community leaders who have significantly impacted the university and the black community.
Butler said he is thankful for this recognition and is indebted to the university’s faculty and staff for being dedicated to his education and personal growth.
“McNeese has helped mold me into who I am today,” he said. “I’m grateful for the opportunities during my time here, and without their encouragement and belief in me, I would not have been able to accomplish all that I have.”
Butler, named Waggoner’s President and Chief Operating Officer in January, is responsible for managing day-to-day affairs, accelerating firmwide operational performance, and overseeing the transformation of the company’s business model in collaboration with leaders from across the firm.
A senior executive with over 30 years of experience and supporter of many social, civic, and charitable organizations throughout southwest Louisiana, Butler maintains several memberships in local and national non-profit agencies.
He holds a Master of Science degree from Southern University and A&M College in Environmental Chemistry and a Bachelor of Science from McNeese State University in Environmental Science.
