BATON ROUGE, La. – Miles Williams, PE was awarded the Charles M. Kerr Public Relations Award at the Louisiana Engineering Society (LES) 2024 Honors and Awards Presentation on February 5, 2024 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The award is bestowed annually upon a Professional Engineer for distinguished service in the promotion of the engineering profession in the state.
In 2023, Williams was awarded the LES Waldemar S. Nelson President’s Award, named in honor of Waldemar S. Nelson, PE, a distinguished member from 1936 to 2005. The annual award is presented for distinguished service to the LES.
With over 40 years of technical and management experience in the civil engineering discipline, Williams has delivered countless transportation and infrastructure-related projects. He joined Baton Rouge-based Sigma Consulting Group (a Waggoner company) in 1990 and was named President in 2003.
He is an active member of the LES and has served on the Baton Rouge Chapter’s Board of Directors and as President in 2004. He held a six-year term on the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board (LAPELS), serving as Chairman in 2014.
Williams taught engineering students as an adjunct faculty member in the Louisiana State University Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (LSU CEE) for over a decade. In 2017, he was bestowed the LSU CEE Hall of Distinction award.
He is also a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Institute of Transportation Engineers.
Williams holds a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Louisiana State University and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Louisiana, Florida and Texas.
