Christi presented “Hybrid Sanitary Sewer Utilities as Socio-Technical Systems: Towards Development of an Agent-Based Model (ABM) to Simulate Rural Community Adoption and Acceptance” in collaboration with Sean Walker, PhD at the Alabama-Mississippi Water Joint Annual Conference. Their session explored how ABMs can reveal dynamic, complex interactions in utility systems and offer insight into community adoption patterns.

As Mississippi Chair for the Women in Water (WiW) committee, Maggie hosted a networking event and moderated a roundtable, “Women in Leadership: Setting Goals, Overcoming Challenges, and Discovering Opportunities,” featuring women utility leaders from across the United States. The panel was held during the Alabama-Mississippi Water Joint Annual Conference.

Holli presented “Modernizing Zoning & Permitting with GIS: Driving Business Growth in Canton, MS” at the 35th Annual South Central Arc User Group (SCAUG) Conference. She shared how Waggoner applied GIS tools to streamline municipal processes, enhance transparency, accelerate approvals, and foster a business-friendly environment in Canton.

Pandiyan and Jejal collaborated on two presentations for this year’s EWRI ASCE World Environmental & Water Resources Congress. These sessions, “Enhancing Watershed Prioritization Using an Automated Machine Learning Approach” and “Challenges and Limitations of Automated Erosion Detection and Estimation in Gully Erosion,” sparked discussions around the use of machine learning and automation in watershed and erosion studies.

At the same EWRI Congress, Binita presented about using terrain modification tools in HEC-RAS for preliminary decision-making in structural flood mitigation. Drawing from her experience in 2D hydraulic modeling, she demonstrated how this approach can help identify targeted, community-based flood control strategies.

Asishana presented “Enhancing EO/IR Sensor Data Analytics with a Two-Stage Framework for Clutter Reduction and Signal Classification” with Mississippi State University colleagues during the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) Annual Conference. He also earned third place in the IISE Innovation and Design Competition with his team’s entry, “ServeUI – Hyper Personalized Automated Healthcare, Available Anywhere,” in the largest competition cohort since its inception.
