JACKSON, Miss. – Waggoner Engineering, a civil engineering and professional consulting firm dedicated to helping communities reach their full potential, proudly announces the promotion of Alyssa Blackwell to Controller.
In her new senior leadership role, Blackwell will oversee the accounting department, establish financial policies and procedures, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Her leadership will play a key role in maintaining Waggoner’s financial health through strategic planning, budgeting, and data-driven analyses to support decision-making.
With more than a decade of accounting experience at Waggoner during a period of significant growth, Blackwell brings specialized expertise in coordinating overhead audits, ensuring general ledger compliance, managing payroll, and auditing contracts. She has also developed deep knowledge of Waggoner’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) system and is proficient in a range of accounting software.
Blackwell began her career in Waggoner’s Jackson office in 2009 as an accounting assistant and steadily advanced into roles of increasing responsibility, most recently serving as Accounting Manager.
“Alyssa’s promotion to Controller reflects her work ethic, institutional knowledge, and commitment to Waggoner’s mission,” said Jason Cline, Chief Financial Officer. “She has grown alongside the firm and knows our systems inside and out. Her practical, thoughtful approach to leadership will be vital to our financial strategy moving forward.”
In August 2024, Blackwell earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Western Governors University, an impressive achievement while balancing full-time professional responsibilities. She also received her Deltek Vision Certification (Accounting Exam) in April 2024.
