St. Martin Parish, Louisiana
Waggoner is the prime consultant for this Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LaDOTD) project, which involves the design and construction plan preparation for regional drainage improvements near the I-10 Henderson exit in St. Martin Parish. During significant rain events, the area experiences regional flooding due to undersized side drains, side road cross drains and spill-over from adjacent drainage areas.
Waggoner conducted a detailed hydraulic analysis, including HEC-RAS modeling, to determine solutions to alleviate flooding problems at the interchange. The selected alternative included removing undersized pipes at three locations on LA 352, installing a 10’x6’ RCB at two locations, and a combination of open ditch and subsurface drainage bypass systems to equalize flow from the interchange.
Waggoner assembled the plan set, quantities, pay items, and estimated construction costs. Additionally, Waggoner performed a topographic survey of the one-mile long channel, identified high water marks from recent flooding, and all existing drainage structures including type, size, length, sedimentation, and flow restrictions. All design calculations, quantities, construction plans, and pay items were prepared according to LaDOTD standards and specifications.
