Featured Project
Lost Lake Marsh Creation and Hydraulic Restoration
Watershed & Coastal
Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana
This project consists of over 1,000 acres of marsh creation and nourishment using dredged material from Lost Lake as well as approximately 30,000 linear feet of earthen terraces constructed utilizing in-situ material. Waggoner designed variable crest weirs using steel sheet pile walls and timber piles at five sites surrounding Lost Lake. Waggoner provided topographic surveying of each site and the preparation of demolition plans for the existing timber weirs. Our team reviewed a year’s collection of existing water gauge information to evaluate the hydraulic flows at the site and used that information in sizing the proposed weir openings. The team then performed the structural design of the steel sheet piles and supporting timber piling and prepared construction plans, site layouts, permit drawings, and specifications.
Waggoner was also tasked under a supplemental contract to provide construction administration and inspection services for all aspects of this $29 million construction project. Associated work included reviewing construction submittals, pay applications, change orders, and other documents from the contractor as well as resident project representative/inspection services and serving as liaison for the Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority and the contractor for the entire duration of construction.
