Claiborne County FEMA/MEMA Flood Damage

Claiborne County, Mississippi

Claiborne County experienced more than 3.5 inches of rain in February/March of 2020. Saturated soil conditions on hillsides and excessive runoff caused significant damage to roadway surfaces, roadway embankments, drainage infrastructure and adjacent creek banks and bridges. WEI/AJA, LLC developed plans and specifications for repairs at 25 sites throughout Claiborne County.

Project Details

Problem: The heavy rainfall caused extensive damage to roadways and roadway shoulders, eroded creek channels along the banks and under the bridges, and exposed culverts.

Solution: Through a phased approach, multiple repairs were done until such time that the scope of work needed to be amended to account for unforeseen repairs.

Funding: This project was funded with Federal Emergency Management Agency and Mississippi Emergency Management Agency funds.
