LA 347 Roundabout at Doyle Melancon Road

Transportation, Surveying
Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development
Breaux Bridge, St. Martin Parish, Louisiana

Waggoner was the prime consultant to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LaDOTD) for this project, which included full topographic surveying, right-of-way mapping and road design for a new single-lane, four-legged roundabout in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana at the intersection of LA 347 and Doyle Melancon Road/Extension.

The project design conformed with EDSM VI.1.1.6 and all recommendations from the project roundabout study. The project included relocating a large drainage ditch and 72-inch corrugated metal pipe-arch (CPMA) subsurface drainage. The geometrics were designed to eliminate impacts to a significant oak tree at the southeast quadrant of the intersection.

The topographic survey included topography of the existing roadway, drainage features, existing utilities and roadside features. Waggoner coordinated with the LaDOTD District 03 Utility Coordinator and utility owners for utility impacts to the project. Waggoner also prepared right-of-way maps.
